About BIBM 2008
IEEE BIBM 2008 will provide a general forum for disseminating
the latest research in bioinformatics and biomedicine. It is a
multidisciplinary conference that brings together academic and
industrial scientists from computer science, biology, chemistry,
medicine, mathematics and statistics. It will exchange research
results and address open issues in all aspects of bioinformatics
and biomedicine and provide a forum for the presentation of work
in databases, algorithms, interfaces, visualization, modeling,
simulation, ontologyand other computational methods, as applied
to life science problems, with emphasis on applications in high
throughput data-rich areas in biology, biomedical engineering.
IEEE BIBM 2008 intends to attract a balanced combination of computer
scientists, biologists, biomedical engineers, chemist, data analyzer,
statistician.
Selected papers will be invited for publication in the following
4journal special issues
- IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine
- BMC Bioinformatics
- Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIIM)
- International Journal of Data Mining and Bioinformatics
-
A Special Program Addition:
“Applied Bioinformatics” Keynote Address and Poster Reception.
On Monday, November 3, 2008 6:00-8:30PM (Poster Session CFP)
Applied Bioinformatics Keynote Address:
“From Tissue Sample to Prognosis: Quantitative Analysis of Biological Data”
by G. Scott Lett, Ph.D. Founder and President, The BioAnalytics Group LLC.
- This talk will highlight examples that demonstrate how mathematical algorithms and computer-assisted analyses optimize the usable information that can be gleaned from an experimental data set. Examples will be taken from cancer, influenza and cardiac disease.
