About BIBM 2008

(the paper submission deadline is extended to July 15, 2008)

IEEE BIBM 2008 will provide a general forum for disseminating the latest research in bioinformatics and biomedicine. It is a multidisciplinary conference that brings together academic and industrial scientists from computer science, biology, chemistry, medicine, mathematics and statistics. It will exchange research results and address open issues in all aspects of bioinformatics and biomedicine and provide a forum for the presentation of work in databases, algorithms, interfaces, visualization, modeling, simulation, ontologyand other computational methods, as applied to life science problems, with emphasis on applications in high throughput data-rich areas in biology, biomedical engineering. IEEE BIBM 2008 intends to attract a balanced combination of computer scientists, biologists, biomedical engineers, chemist, data analyzer, statistician.

Selected papers will be invited for publication in the following 3 journal special issues (we are in the process of negociting a speicla issue from BIBM 08 with an IEEE transaction)

- BMC Bioinformatics

- Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIIM)

- International Journal of Data Mining and Bioinformatics

  • A unique two-hours panel/keynote speech to address future research directions and potential funding opportunities led by 4 Program Managers/Directors in leading funding agency NSF/NIH/DoE: Jennifer Couch(NIH), Susan Gregurick (DoE-OBER), James French (NSF-IIS) Grace Peng (NIH-NIBIB)
  • Keynote speakers: Olivier Bodenreider, Zoran Obradovic, Steven Salzberg, Yuan-Ting Zhang
  • The meeting will last for 3 days.
  • In each morning, there will be a one-hour keynote presentation to all the audience.
