    In order to take any graduate courses in IST, you must be accepted to a graduate program such as a Master’s Degree and the Certificate Programs offered through Drexel E Learning and IST.

    When can I begin an iSchool graduate program?
    Effective 2008 academic year:

    Master of Science in Library and Information Science (MS), Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) and Master of Science in Software Engineering (MSSE): Fall and Spring

    PhD: Fall only

    Certificate of Advanced Study(CAS) and Special Associate: Fall and Spring

    Healthcare Informatics: Fall and Spring

    On-campus program applicants should contact your admissions representative direct or the iSchool at (215) 895-2474.

    How long will it take before I hear if I'm accepted to a graduate program?
    Although it generally takes only a couple of weeks, please allow up to eight weeks for processing, as the application instructions state. Your application will not be reviewed for an admissions decision until it is complete.

    Do the people writing my letters of recommendation have to use the Drexel University form?
    No. A letter on their own letterhead is also acceptable.

    I don't have an undergraduate degree in Information Science or Library Science. Can I still apply?
    Yes. The College accepts students with a wide variety of academic backgrounds into the Library and Information systems degrees. Software Engineering Degrees require a degree with previous software development.

    Can I come in and sit down with someone to discuss the program?
    For the MSIS or MS (LIS) program, contact Dr. Eileen Abels. For the PhD program, contact Dr. Susan Wiedenbeck. Also, please try to attend one of our information sessions. A list of upcoming sessions can be found here

    May I defer my admission?
    You may defer for up to one academic year, limited to Fall and Spring admit terms. After a year, you will have to reapply, but it may not be necessary to resubmit your application materials. For more information contact: Matthew Lechtenberg at Matthew.Lechtenberg@ischool.drexel.edu

    I need to apply for Special Associate Status. What do I need to do?
    If you are a student in another accredited graduate program and want to take a class for credit to transfer back to your home institution, you may apply for Special Associate Status. Fill out our online application form using program code NONMAT-G-IST. Have your department head or academic advisor send us a letter stating that you are in good academic standing and have permission to take the class in question.
