  • Do I need to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) in order to be accepted to a graduate program?
The iSchool Admissions Department will review for a preliminary GRE waiver when they receive any eligible transcript (final transcript showing degree conferred.)
Applicants with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 grade scale) in any completed degree (Bachelor's or above) may be waived. Applicants with a half cum of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 grade scale) in any completed degree (Bachelor's or above) may also be waived.

This decision is considered tentative and subject to change by the iSchool Admissions Review Board.

Maybe. Maybe not. We compute the last half of your undergraduate credits, not the last two years.

How will I know if I need to take the GRE or not?
As soon as the iSchool receives any transcript showing degree conferred (Bachelor's or above) then admissions will notify you if the GRE's are required, via a status email. The waiver is only final when given by the iSchool Admissions Board and is never automatic.

What is the minimum score I must receive on the GRE in order to be considered for enrollment in IST’s graduate programs?
We don't have a minimum score since the GRE score is only one of several indicators of acceptance. The Admissions Review Committee looks at every application individually. However, we have found that scores at the 50th percentile or higher on the verbal, quantitative and analytic tests are generally associated with success in the program.

How should I prepare for the GRE?
You should review the practice tests provided by the Educational Testing Service and review tests in practice books you will find in bookstores and libraries. The Drexel-Kaplan Graduate Degree Advantage Program is also available. Any student who enrolls in a Drexel graduate program after taking the Kaplan preparation course for the GRE will receive tuition credit up to $1,200. Students will need to present the original Kaplan course receipt to the iSchool Graduate Admissions Office prior to enrollment. Participation in the Drexel-Kaplan Graduate Degree Program does not imply acceptance into an iSchool graduate degree program.
