ijCSCL Selected by ISI (Thomas Reuters) for Indexing and Abstracting 10/28/2009 9:08:50 AM

The International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning

ijCSCL—the journal of the CSCL community—has been selected by ISI (now Thomas Reuters) for indexing and abstracting.  This is the most prestigious indexing service for professional journals.  It is unusual that a new journal is selected during its first four years (vol. 3(4) for December was just shipped).

Beginning with vol. 3(1) 2008, ijCSCL will be indexed and  abstracted in Thomson Reuters products and services, including the Web of Science:

•             Social Sciences Citation Index®/Social SciSearch®

•             Journal Citation Reports/Social Sciences Edition

•             Current Contents®/Social and Behavioral Sciences

This new status will place the CSCL journal on the lists of top journals in many countries for purposes of tenure and promotion, ensuring a steady stream of top-quality submissions.  The favorable decision by ISI is in large part due to the hard work of the ijCSCL Board of Editors in providing high quality reviews of submissions.  This work has resulted in the journal maintaining the kind of standards that result in ISI approval based on objective measures.  More generally, it is a recognition of the status of CSCL as an established scientific community.

Please take this opportunity to encourage your CSCL colleagues to submit their best work to ijCSCL.  As always, we seek major new CSCL-related findings based on empirical studies and innovative ideas grounded in data.  See previous issues of the journal for examples.

Subscription to the journal, published by Springer, is free for members of ISLS (see http://isls.org or http://ijCSCL.org).  The cost of ISLS membership ($109 full, $60 student) is deducted from attendance at an ISLS conference.

Dr. Gerry Stahl, Associate Professor, is co-editor in chief of the peer-reviewed journal.  Peg Fallis, Publications Manager, is a member of the ijCSCL editorial staff, working with authors of accepted papers to edit the final version and check the proofs.
