SHORT BIO
I earned my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto in April 2007. My supervisors were Prof. John Mylopoulos and Prof. Alex Borgida.
I studied data semantics and knowledge management in information
systems. I developed a framework of
capturing semantics for database schemas in terms of
conceptual models and using the semantics to facilitate information
integration. From May 2007 to August 2007, I worked as postdoctoral fellow in the Department of
Computer Science at the University of Toronto, and my
research interests were expanded to Data Integration in Life
Sciences and Healthcare. In September of 2007, I joined the College of Information Science and Technology at Drexel University
in Philadelphia as an
Assistant Professor.
From 1999 to 2001, I studied in the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University, Canada. Under the supervision of Prof. Evangelos Milios and Prof. Jeannette C.M. Janssen.
I studied the problem of characterizing and mining the citation graph
of computer science literature. I developed a web robot for
extracting the citation graph from citeseer and applied graph-theoretic
algorithms for pattern discovery. We obtained some interesting
results! I earned my Master's degree in Computer Science in 2001.
Eearlier, I
attended the Tsinghua University
in Beijng, China, and obtained a
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's Degree in
Systems Engineering from the Department of Automation, in 1987 and 1989, respectively. I worked in Beijing SIWA Inc. taking the
roles ranging from technical staff to project manager and senior
manager until 1999.
