Professor Prudence Dalrymple joined the faculty at Drexel in January 2008 and was appointed Director of the Institute for Healthcare Informatics later that year. She recently received a National Library of Medicine training grant to participate in a two year post-doctoral fellowship in medical informatics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her informatics research interests focus on the transfer of research into practice, looking specifically at the barriers and incentives for evidence-based medicine and guideline adoption. Ancillary areas of investigation are health literacy and health information literacy, clinical decision support, and query formulation and evaluation. Prior to coming to Drexel, her career included positions in academic administration, accreditation, and university teaching and research at such institutions as Dominican University in Chicago, the American Library Association and the University of Illinois. She received her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an M.S. in Health Sciences Informatics from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Phi Mu and a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals. She is a Past President of the Association for Library and Information Science and Education, a member of the Board of the American Society for Information Science and Technology and represents Drexel's iSchool in the Academic Forum of the American Medical Informatics Association. She has served as a grant reviewer for the National Library of Medicine (NIH) and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She serves on the Editorial Board of Education for Information and the Journal of the Medical Library Association.
