The iSchool accepts adjunct faculty applications on a rolling basis from those interested in joining our adjunct faculty pool. We hire adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and online. We also look for adjuncts to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. The combination of experience, interests, and our needs, are the deciding factors that determine what courses are assigned to adjuncts.

Online courses run on a flexible schedule. Please note that only our MSIS, MS (LIS) and MSSE programs are offered online, while our undergraduate and PhD programs are only offered on campus. Undergraduate courses typically meet 2 to 3 times per week during the day or 1 evening per week. Graduate courses meet 1 evening per week or occasionally are assigned to Saturday mornings (depending on instructor availability).

Courses are assigned one term in advance to allow for proper preparation time. All assignments are dependent upon enrollment, which is subject to change through the start of the term. We make every effort to avoid canceling assignments, but if there is not sufficient enrollment then a course must be canceled. There are times when an adjunct assignment is canceled because the course must be re-assigned to a full-time faculty member, in the event the full-time faculty's course is canceled due to low enrollment. This is due to a University Provost Office mandate that requires full-time faculty to teach a minimum number of courses per term.
