The following tables list all iSchool scholarship opportunities. Please read each category carefully as each has its own set of criteria. All eligible students and applicants can apply for any available aid provided they meet the stated criteria and submit the required documentation.

TO APPLY

Available for new full and part-time iSchool graduate students. Two types of awards are available. Level 1 Dean's Fellowships grant a $250 reduction per graduate credit. Level 2 Dean''s Fellowships grant a $200 reduction per graduate credit. Level is determined by incoming GPA, GRE, and TOEFL (if applicable). Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Dean's Fellowship may not be combined with scholarships and graduate incentives.

• Recipients chosen by iSchool Admissions Committee. No application required.


Provides financial assistance to graduate stuents in L&IS, based on academic merit and financial need. Preference given to students interested in a career in academic librarianship.

Available for female, doctoral students based on academic merit and financial need.

A loan fund available to undergraduate and graduate iSchool students in good academic standing and with financial need. International students are not eligible to borrow from this fund.

• Send detailed request (email preferred to Kristen Samec) including name, address, student ID, program, credits completed, cumulative GPA, and amount requesting to borrow. Funds may only be used for tuition.


To provide support for a PhD who is at the point in their career where the quality of their work would most benefit from the award. Successful candidates must be working in the areas of scholarly communication, bibliometrics, or quantitative studies of science. Preference given to dissertation year students. This prize is awarded every other year, and Fall 2008 is the next award cycle. All PhD students currently enrolled in the iSchool are eligible to apply for the award. The application should include: • A short essay discussing past, current, and planned research activities and achievements in one or more of the areas listed above, the expected scholarly and/or professional impact of the research, and the importance of this award to the applicant's research progress. • A current Curriculum Vitae • Up to five relevant publications; if co-authored, the applicant's particular contributions to the research should be discussed in the essay

Award for graduating iSchool graduate student based on exceptional academic ability and professional orientation of a high order.

• Recipients chosen by faculty vote in Spring term. No application required.
To provide financial assistance to GR's, based on academic merit and potential for professional contributions.

Award up to $2000 for undergraduate or graduate students majoring in information systems. International students are not eligible for this award. Criteria for award: • Good character • Strong work ethic • Leadership ability • Good academic standing.

Award for graduating iSchool master's degree student. This will be awarded at the end of Spring term. Award based on: • Academic record at Drexel University • Demonstrated significant contribution to the college through extra-curricular activities and other services • Demonstrated potential professional leadership.

Awards for minority graduate students in Library Science.

Award available for iSchool graduate student. Preference given to PhD-level students and those studying bibliometrics/infometrics.

Award for international iSchool graduate student from a developing country with an interest in healthcare informatics, especially those students concerned about improving the healthcare conditions in countries such as their own. Preference given to applicants from one of the New Independent States created from the former Soviet Union.

Award for iSchool graduate student demonstrating academic excellence. Recipient must work in Library and Information Science in China (People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan) for at least one year after graduation. Preference given to students of Chinese descent.

Award available for iSchool graduate students demonstrating academic excellence, an expressed interest in public service, and potential for leadership. The award covers the cost of three graduate credits (one course) for two recipients. They will be chosen by the iSchool Financial Aid Committee and approved by the ISTA Executive Board.
