Catalog Course Description:
Presents the foundations of assuring information assets in an organization. Describes methods to identify and value information assets, and how to assess vulnerabilities and threats to these assets. Focuses on technical, procedural and managerial approaches for information assurance.

Pre-requisites:
INFO 350 Minimum Grade: D and INFO 365 Minimum Grade: D

Curriculum Role:

Covers one foundational subject area in information security and assurance for BSIS and BSIT students.

Course Rationale:
Information assurance is a modern perspective that significantly influences the development and management of information systems and the information assets in an organization. Students must understand information assurance and be capable of performing the best IA practices in order to be effective information systems and technologies professionals.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:
• Identify information assets in an organization, and assess their values and vulnerabilities.
• Identify and evaluate threats to their organization’s information assets
• Create and manage  information assurance plans and policies to reduce risks to information assets.
• Evaluate and select information assurance technologies
• Understand the legal, social and ethical implication of information assurance

• Strategic and tactical IA  management practices and procedures (1)
