Study software server platform technologies. This is a continuation of INFO 321 Server Technology II. Prepares students to apply a wide range of server technologies to information systems problems.

CS 131 Minimum Grade: D or CS 171 Minimum Grade: D or SE 101 Minimum Grade: D
 
Curriculum Role
 This course is:
·         Required for the Server and Network Technology sequence in the BSIT program.
·         A possible Information Systems elective in the BSIS program.
·         A possible computing elective for the BSSE program.
 
Course Rationale
This course focuses on the stewardship of information system servers through the server technology lifecycle. These servers form the foundation of modern information systems.
 
Course Outcomes 
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to
·         Monitor server operations and identify operational exceptions
·         Identify and respond to server performance problems.
·         Identify and respond to server security exceptions.
·         Define and implement virtualized server architectures.
·         Manage a server system through the lifecycle phases of server implementation, operation and retirement.

Presentation

Course lectures cover topics applied in the lab. The course simulates the lifecycle of a production server.
Student groups are responsible for effective development and management of a specific information systems server.
