Catalog Course Description:
Introduces the principles, practices and tools for information systems analysis and design. Emphasizes on learning pragmatic aspects of working as a systems analyst. Students will carry out system analysis tasks by employing practical tools and methods.

Pre-requisites and Co-requisites:
INFO 102  Introduction to Information Systems II

Curriculum Role:
This is a required course for the BS in Information Systems and BS in Information Technology degree programs. It is usually taken in the student’s second year of the degree.

Course Rationale:
This course is offered to provide students with an understanding of the principles and methods of information systems analysis and design. Students learn the basics knowledge of information systems, and practical methods and tools for analyzing and designing information systems.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:
• Define the role of a systems analyst and identify when systems analysis and design is necessary
• List the fundamental characteristics of systems analysis and design projects
• Apply fundamental project planning methods to a systems analysis and design projects
• Apply structured information systems analysis tools
• Produce structured systems analysis documentation
• Apply introductory object-oriented information systems analysis and design methods
• Manage communications, conflict and negotiation in systems analysis and design work
