Catalog Course Description:
This course is an independent project in which student teams design and implement information systems under faculty guidance.  Possible projects include (but are not limited to) information technology areas such as databases, web-based systems, collaborative systems, user interfaces and expert systems.

INFO 420  Software Project Management
INFO 424  Team Project Practicum

Curriculum Role:
This course is required for BSIS and BSIT majors.  It is part of a multi-term capstone experience.
 
Course Rationale:
Most IT projects are team efforts, and so development of skills needed to work successfully on a team is essential for IS and IT students.  This course provides an opportunity for students to integrate material from prior courses with a project that spans major phases of the IT project life cycle.  It also provides additional experience with working in teams, and a chance to deal with a large scale problem than can be addressed in a single term or by a single student.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:
• Explain and contribute to requirements and design specifications and other key IT documents
• Work effectively as a team member on an IT project
• Apply appropriate methodologies and development tools in an IT project
